Patrick J. Walsh, CPA, MBA

  • Patrick (Pat) Walsh is the firm's co-managing member.  Pat has over twenty years of experience as a corporate tax specialist advising clients in numerous industries.  Pat was a Managing Director of Duff & Phelps in the Income Tax Advisory practice until Duff & Phelps discontinued the service line in 2010.  Along with his co-managing member, AJ Borresen, Pat established Walsh & Borresen LLC with a majority of the Morristown based Income Tax Advisory practice of Duff & Phelps.  Prior to joining Duff & Phelps, Pat was a partner of the West Orange, NJ based firm The Sziklay Borresen Group (SBG) and its predecessor firm.  Prior to joining SBG, Pat was the senior United States tax officer for Reuters America  based in New York City.  He also was a senior US tax executive at Fiat USA prior to joining Reuters America.  Pat began his career at Arthur Andersen.  His professional practice areas include ASC 740 (FAS-109 / FIN 48) consulting, federal tax consulting for domestic and multinational corporations, and state and local income taxation.
  • Pat's work experience has included:

    • Coordinated the adoption of FAS-109 / IAS-12 for a global 1000 company
    • Started an in-house tax department to handle tax compliance needs for a  multi-billion dollar US subsidiary of a foreign-based company
    • Advised on the income tax aspects of over 50 mergers & acquisitions
    • Led and managed numerous tax department outsourcing projects as well as strategic co-sourcing of specific tax department functions (compliance, tax accounting, audit assistance, planning, etc.)
    • Managed and coordinated the tax accounting aspects of multiple business units following the separation of a $20 billion service company into four separate groups
    • Managed the negotiation of a multilateral Advanced Pricing Agreement with the US and British tax authorities
  • Pat has a B.S., magna cum laude, from Seton Hall University and an M.B.A. in taxation and finance from New York University.  He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), New Jersey.

AJ Borresen, CPA, JD, LLM

  • AJ has more than thirty years of experience in comprehensive tax planning, primarily in a corporate/commercial context. For ten years, he structured all U.S. tax investments for a foreign-based multi-national corporation, where he was the Vice President of Taxation, involving in excess of 50 U.S. entities filing 15 U.S. consolidated and separate company tax returns with a view towards tax minimization. AJ also has extensive experience with mergers, acquisitions and tax treaties. AJ also served as Senior Tax Manager with Arthur Andersen working there for ten years in the New York and New Jersey offices.
  • AJ's work experience has included:

    • Extensive experience in individual, corporate, and partnership taxation matters, both in the compliance and planning areas
    • Specializes in structuring corporate, partnership and limited liability company investments from both a domestic and international perspective
    • Handled all aspects of federal, state, and local government tax audits from the initial structuring of the processes to the successful conclusions of these matters
    • Consolidated tax return basis and E&P studies
    • Multi-state tax planning
  • AJ has a Master's Degree in Tax Law, New York University, a Juris Doctorate, Hofstra University School of Law where he was a member of the Law Review, and a Bachelors Degree in Marketing, University of Delaware.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, New Jersey Bar Association, and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), New Jersey and a member of The American Institute of CPAs.

Tom McCormick, CPA

  • Senior Manager Tom McCormick has been in public accounting for over 25 years, including seven years with Ernst & Young. He has been associated with the current principals of the firm for 10 years. A majority of Tom's experience has been as a tax advisor to high net worth individuals, closely-held businesses and corporations. Tom graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a B.S. in Accounting in 1986 and enjoys spending time with his grandchildren at the Jersey Shore. He is a fan of the NY Rangers and NY Mets. 

Aishe Miric, CPA

  • Tax Manager Aishe Miric graduated in 2006 from the Rutgers Business School with a B.S. in Accounting and a minor in Statistics. She has performed a wide variety of services with a central focus on corporate tax compliance, tax consulting and tax accounting projects. Aishe enjoys international travel. 

Daniel Zuber

  • Tax Manager Daniel Zuber graduated in 2006 from Rutgers University and performs varous tax compliance and tax accounting services. Dan is in the process of submitting his CPA application having recently obtained the required 150 credits while pursuing his MS in Taxation from Rutgers University. He is also an accomplished guitar player.

Bing He, CPA

  • Tax Manager Bing He received a master's degree in accounting from Tianjin University of Finance and Economics in China (1997) and an MBA from East Tennessee State University (2005). He has been in public accounting since graduation and mainly worked in individual, partnership and corporate taxation. Bing is fluent in Mandarin and is in the process of obtaining his green card. Bing's wife is also a CPA. Bing enjoys cooking Chinese delights for his family.

Ryan Babiak, CPA

  • Tax Manager Ryan Babiak received his BS in Accounting from Ramapo College of NJ in 2007 and will receive his MS in Taxation from Rutgers University in May of 2013. Ryan has worked on a variety of corporate and individual tax issues, as well as special consulting projects in the pharmaceutical and travel service industries. He enjoys traveling, dining out, and pretending to be a better basketball player and handyman than he actually is.  

Melody Peaten

  • Senior Accountant Melody Peaten graduated from Saint Peter's College in June of 2008 with a Bachelor of Science (BSBA) in Accounting and is pursuing an MS in Taxation from Rutgers University. She works primarily on automotive industry corporate clients and individual tax returns. She enjoys spending time with her son

Sarah Li, CPA

  • Senior Accountant Sarah Li received her Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accountancy from Concordia University in 2006 and worked for two years as a tax associate for RSM Richter LP in Montreal, Canada. She works across the span of firm clients and is an avid tennis player and fan of classical music. She is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin. 

Karin Salmeri, CPA

  • Staff Accountant Karin Salmeri received an MA in International Management Studies in 2008 from the University of Duisburg-Essen in Duisburg, Germany. Karin works on corporate and individual tax returns across the firm's client base. In addition to her love for numbers, she is a semi-pro beach volleyball player and fluent in German.

Janet Wos

  • Operations Manager Janet Wos handles all firm administrative, technology and human resources functions. She earned her BA in Economics from Rutgers University and has worked as a tax and technology manager and senior manager with Deloitte & Touche and Arthur Andersen.
